Darla McMeeken Jacquie Howell President Treasurer Thank Offering Information ACW Diocese of Algoma Thank Offering 2020 -2021 This is a brief update to the information that Chair of Social Action – May Sequin shared with us earlier. The pandemic has had a tremendous effect on Children and Women around the world, which has increased the need. In 2018/2019, donations have made a tremendous difference to more than 200,000 children, youth, women and men in Bolivia, Ethiopia, Ghana, Uganda and in Indigenous communities in Canada. Your donation not only serves up nutritious meals in schools and daycares, it also helps parents grow and sell food, earning the income they need to nourish their children and send them to school. I am including a couple of projects that they have been involved in recently. TRADITIONAL FOODS For Indigenous communities in Canada, traditional foods like moose and caribou are critical to feeding children during the pandemic Your donation will help supply families with much needed food from the land, and will help them grow their own food at home and in community gardens. URGENT FAMILY FOOD BOXES While our main focus is long term food security, children and families need food assistance right now. CFFC have provided over 7,300 urgent family food boxes so far in response to COVID-19. Your donation will help provide food boxes filled with healthy groceries to the families who need it most in Canada and around the world. Please pray for the work of CFFC and give generously. We have much to be thankful for in our daily lives
The World Day of Prayer is generally celebrated on the first Friday of March.
In Coniston, members from the 5 various parishes would gather to celebrate. After discussing the Covid-19 situation with some members of the parishes, we have agreed to cancel the 2021 celebration in Coniston. But, the World Day of Prayer can still be celebrated. If you have internet access, the Women's Inter-Church Council of Canada has prepared The World Day of Prayer 2021 service video which can be accessed after February 15 by going to wicc.org and clicking on the One Hour Service Video button. This video is free. Please, share the above information with members of your Church community. Looking forward to celebrating World Day of Prayer in 2022 at St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church. Blessings to all of you, Stella Jablinchuk Candlemas is a Christian holiday celebrated annually on February 2. It celebrates three occasions according to Christian belief: the Feast of the Presentation of Jesus Christ, the Feast of the Purification of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and the Feast of the Holy Encounter, is a Christian Holy Day commemorating the presentation of Jesus at the Temple.
